We want to partner with you and help you take a step towards the marriage that God intended for you from the very beginning! Join us for a gathering that will serve as the SPARK that you need to uplift, empower, and restore your relationship back to health!

Javier and Kelly Amaya became disciples 41 years ago while in college. Javier graduated from Brown University with a degree in Biomedical Engineering and Kelly from Boston College with a degree in Psychology with a concentration in Spanish. Javier later obtained his master’s degree in Christian Ministries from Harding University. They were high school sweethearts and have been married for 37 years. They are parents of 3 adult children and 4 grandchildren. The Amaya’s have served in the full-time ministry for 33 years. Their journey has taken them from Boston, to Florida, Mexico, Guatemala, and Los Angeles. They returned to Boston 12 years ago to lead the Boston Spanish-speaking Ministry. Their passion is to see lives transformed by the power of God and to be used by God to raise up leaders for service in his Kingdom.

The price is $110 per couple for those staying at the Houston CityPlace Marriott and $185 per couple for those NOT staying at the hotel.

Detailed Schedule for Marriage Retreat Weekend 2024

FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 9th

  • 7:30 PM – Spanish Speaking Devotional @ St. Christopher’s

SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 10th

  • 8:30 AM – Marriage Retreat Registration opens

  • 10:00 AM – Class Session One (Springwood Village I-IV):  “The Spark” – Class

We all need to be reminded that out of His glorious riches, God can easily strengthen us with power through His Spirit in our marriages. If the two are willing, God can do immeasurably more than we ask or imagine with a simple SPARK.

  • 11:00 AM – Break

  • 11:15 AM – Class Session Two:  “The Flame” – Class

At different stages marriages need different things to keep the flame going. God’s Spirit never wants us to become stagnant or comfortable. In this class, we want to address the spiritual, emotional and physical needs of both partners. We plan to have break out classes for different seasons of marriage…

  • Married - (0-10 Years) – Antoine & Pam Lee (Springwoods Village III)

  • Married - (11-25 Years) – Rhett & Debbie Spivey (Springwoods Village I-II)

  • Married - (26 Plus Years) – Javier & Kelly Amaya (Springwoods Village IV-V)

In the scripture, we see that fire is a powerful symbol, which represents God’s undeniable love and His righteous fury.  It’s a symbol of the transformative power of the Holy Spirit, and is mentioned countless times throughout the Bible, from Genesis to Revelation.  May we be reminded of the power of God’s presence in our personal lives and in our marriages, and how He can use that to ignite something powerful in our homes, and in our communities.

  • Benevolence Request
    The Greater Houston Church provides financial assistance to church members who have a financial need. Those needing assistance should speak to the region's benevolence representative for direction concerning completing a benevolence request. Your region leader can identify your benevolence representative. Requests will be evaluated based on need. To request assistance, complete the Benevolence Request.
  • Cash Receipts Submission
    Volunteers responsible for counting church collections can use PushPay to submit count information.
  • Cash Receipts Training
    If you are a member of the Greater Houston Church and 18 years of age or older, please volunteer to serve on a church count team. The count teams responsibly care for in-person cash or checks received at church worship or events. Watch the Cash Receipts Training video and complete the accompanying form to begin serving on a church count team.
  • Facility Request
    To request the church office set up a facility for a church meeting, please complete the Facility Request Form. Please request a facility four weeks in advance to allow time for the church office to make arrangements.
  • Giving Statement
    Thank you so much for your generosity to the Greater Houston Church. ​ To download your Giving Statement for the prior year, log in at pushpay.com and click on Giving Statement.   • HOPE Youth Corp Scholarship
    The Greater Houston Church supports high school and college students to attend the HOPE Youth Corp by paying half the registration fee per participant. Payments once approved are paid directly to HOPE Worldwide. Complete a HOPE Youth Corp Scholarship Application. Please pay your portion of the registration fee before requesting a scholarship from The Greater Houston Church.
